Lane told me over the weekend how behind I am on blogging. Like I didn't already know! I've got the following to post: Lane at 6 months, Easter, Last week in the rent house, Lots of firsts in the new house, Splash day/end of year for Reese's school, Grandma's 80th Birthday Bash and much more! Whoa - I really don't like it when I get behind.
My friends Wendy and Megan are so good - they keep up and blog at least once a week if not more. Then there is my friend Christi who I just learned feels like me. To quote her, "a miserable blogger." It's so fun to stay on top of it, but so not fun when you get behind because then you just feel overwhelmed. Matt says I shouldn't worry about it, but I want to keep up and turn these posts into books we will cherish. These memories and moments go by too quickly. I vow to enjoy life too like my friend Stacy told me to do! So once again, I'll try harder to blog more often while enjoying these great times and keeping you all updated on our wonderfully busy lives.
Lane loves to put EVERYTHING in his mouth including his feet and/or socks. You will notice in most of the pictures Lane is chewing on something. Ah, teething!
He and Reese have learned to enjoy bath time together or should I say I have learned to manage two playful kiddos in the tub. It's great fun for all and helps me get them in and out fast.
Reese really likes their matching towels. I was able to find "shared space" bathroom accessories for them at PBK. The pink elephant and blue hippo with green frogs are perfect.
Lane learned to sit up during this 7th month - oops spoiler for the 8 month posting. ;)
He also has 2 bottom teeth now! The second one came right after the first. Hence all the chewing and drooling.
He loves this toy and when he gets bored with one side, we can just turn it to the next.
We bought a used BOB (a.k.a. double jogger) from a friend and it has been a life saver. We go out for a stroll every night. The kids love it and I get a 30 minute workout. The first time the kids rode in it, Reese was so excited, she said "This is going to be so much fun!"
We had to fix one of the tires before we could take it for a ride and Reese went on and on about why the tire was broken and when I was going to fix it. She at that stage where she wants to know the reason behind everything. She likes to hash it out and really understand. So we talk and talk and answer lots of "Why?" questions. She also has a great memory which means we may hash it out again a few days from now. ;)
Lane's usual routine is to take a cat nap while we stroll. He is always exhausted from day care and in need of a power nap by 7:00/7:30 p.m. Luckily, he still goes down well after his bath and bottle at 8:30.
Lane fed himself a bottle one night when he was so tired. We put him on the couch with the bottle.
And 10 minutes later he was like this.
Lane can also sit in the high chair at a restaurant now. He loves to bang and knock everything on the floor.
Aunt Lauren turned 30 on June 7th. We celebrated at St. Arnold's Brewery that Saturday.

Lauren, the birthday girl, with Scott and Lane. Yes, Lane, like Reese at my 30th birthday party, got to be a baby in a bar for the afternoon. Haha!
If you do the math, you'll figure out that I'll be 33 in August. I literally forgot how old I was this past weekend. I was like, am I 32 or 33? I promise I don't feel old, but where is my mind going?
GiGi joined us for a good time!
Earlier that day, Reese had her first swim lesson and did great!

We go every Saturday for the entire summer. I think we may also try private lessons because these sessions are short so she doesn't get much one on one time. Since we do not have a pool and we don't go swimming that often in deep water pools, Reese is a bit timid in the water.
Lane wants to swim too, but I need to find baby lessons for him. I think he would do well because he loves to kick. His teacher told me he is always swimming (on the floor, in his crib, etc.).
She completed her first two week lesson! Wearing my vintage t-shirt from elementary school was too cool.
Lane has become quite independent these days which is good because it frees me up, but I also miss that time with him. Matt or I feed him his last bottle at night to enjoy that special one on one time. On his first day of school, Lane put his hands behind his head when they handed him the bottle (like feed me please) and they said, "Oh no, you hold the bottle." I am so glad we have those pictures of him with his hands behind his head because it was so cute! For a while there, it was also his indication to us that he was hungry.
Reese has discovered she LOVES dresses! Yes, finally after 3.5 years my girl will wear a dress and she actually enjoys it. She only had a few and they were all dirty, so one Friday she wore her Easter dress to school. She kept telling me she had a clean flower dress in her closet. Oh, your Easter dress! Later that day I went back to Hanna Andersson and bought her 3 more - glad they were on sale super cheap! Now I have to convince her to wear all the shorts and t's I bought.
For Father's Day, we went to County Line for BBQ and then back to Pat's house for swimming. It was Lane's first time to swim. I don't know why, but there are more pictures of me and the kids than with Matt. I guess we didn't think about that!

On Sunday, GiGi came over to play with the kids and visit for a while. Somebody got stuck on the licorice and lost a turn.
Lane found GiGi's purse and thought it was going to be a fun chewing toy.
