Chicago The Band

Mom and I enjoyed a Sunday night out seeing Chicago at Verizon Wireless Theatre. It was so great! The venue is very small and we were on the fourth row. The iPhone pictures are terrible, but the experience was awesome. Each member played many instruments and sang. The trumpet, saxophone and trombone rocked! I love this band!

It brought back memories of when I got into Chicago. In 7th or 8th grade Coach Guffey took Kelly and me along with his wife and daughter Joley to the state track meet in Austin. We rode in a school van and listened to Chicago on tape the whole way. I always thought that was so neat that he took us to that track meet. A few years later, Kelly ran the 100 meter and was the fastest white girl in Texas. Ever since that trip I have loved listening to Chicago.

They played so many great hits! The only one they didn't play that I was really hoping for was "Look Away".

The new lead singer since 1985 - Jason Scheff. He replaced Peter Cetera.

This guitar player was hot! His name is Keith Howland.

Up on all fours

Lane will be crawling any day now!

After his bath we was on all fours and rocking back and forth. He can already get where he wants to go. Once he is truly crawling I'll be running! Better get those baby gates ready.

33 years and some cute pics of the kids

This August the 3rd I turned 33. I must say I couldn't be happier and am loving life. What more could I ask for than my wonderful husband (of 10 years) Matt, my beautiful and smart girl Reese and my handsome and sweet boy Lane. They keep me young - oh and super busy!!! I have also started bootcamp on MWF at 5:00 a.m. which is exhausting but will surely help me get toned and stay healthy.

We managed to celebrate at least 3 times this year - it wasn't planned really but worked out well for three-three.

This cake was my final celebration with Mom, Grandma and this kids while Matt was out of town over the weekend.

Here are some random cute pictures of Reese and Lane during the last weeks in July.

I am such a sucker for pictures of my sleeping Lane!

Lane and Reese enjoying some T.V. time - most likely watching Cars.

It's been too long since I blogged - I forgot how to upload my pictures in sequential order. With this new Mac I can't figure out how to drag them into position. Oh well...

On my birthday Matt and I took the kids for a walk to Crave Cupcakes. Here we are enjoying them.

I was reminded by Lauren I think that Reese and I are thirty years a part. She was at my 30th birthday as a 7 month old. Look at us now with Lane!

It was like 100 degrees at 7:30 p.m. I guess that is why the cupcakes ended up melted like this. Thankfully they still tasted good!

We made it to Crave - hot and sweaty!

This is Lane's past time while Reese and I gather our stuff on the way out the door. We give him these clean swim shoes to chew while we put our shoes on. It works and keeps him from chewing the dirty shoes.

Here's Reese at her second dental check up. She did great and had zero cavities! We do a good job of flossing every night. I figure if she is in the habit this young it will stick with her for life.

Reese wanted to hold Lane, but he's not so sure.

And playing with who else but Eeyore!

I moved the big couch in front of the fire place, so I could see Lane at all times from the kitchen. With him crawling - he gets away fast.

This was my birthday celebration with the family at Buffalo Grille. Look at that line out the door. We got there just in time!

Lane enjoyed chewing my gift bag.

And here we are - Mommy and her babies!

Thank you all for a great birthday. Here's to 33, no let's say 66 plus more years!!!

19 Towns and a lot of Drought

We spent the weekend in Abilene on July 22nd and got to see lots of friends and family! On our way back we counted the towns between Abilene and Houston and found there are 19 of them! I'll try to remember them all, but it'll probably take another trip for me to get it right. Oh and the drought was bad - everything was dry even most of the creeks.

Here are our pictures from the weekend...details to follow.

This was in Rising Star - it is a blade for a wind turbine. It is huge!

We arrived around 7:30 p.m. Friday evening and my friend Sara and her daughter Carly came to visit. Three hours later we decided they had to go home so the kids could get to bed, but we could have talked all night.

Reese loved sitting on this stool in Aunt Jamie's kitchen. She sat here and ate watermelon all weekend.
Saturday morning Grandma headed out bright and early to get a perm. When she got back with the car the kids, Mom and I went to visit Grandpa Jack and Norma. Grandpa will be 82 on September 4th.

For lunch, we met my college roommate, Jaime for lunch at Jason's Deli. The girls were so cute and we had a great time catching up. It had been almost 3 years since we had last seen each other.

Shortly after lunch we went to my brother's house and hung out with his family, Dad and Dana. The kids had a great time in the pool.

I got to see and hear the revving of Tyler and Kyler's new trucks.

Here's Tyler in his Chevy.

And Kyler in his Dodge.

Lane enjoyed all of the attention.

Especially from Riley who loved playing with Lane. When we first got there Lane was asleep in his carrier, so I left him inside while getting Reese ready to swim. About 10 minutes later they told me Lane was awake, so I went inside to find Riley talking to Lane and playing "this little piggy" with his toes.

Before we left Riley said, "Can we keep Lane?" And I responded, "For how long?" Riley answered, "Two weeks!"

Lane learned to scoot on his tummy just about the time we arrived at Aunt Jamie's. Perhaps because he was cooped up in the car for 6-7 hours. We quickly baby proofed as much as we could moving Jamie's decorations here and there and out of his way.

He liked scooting into this shelf.

Saturday evening (yes, we went non stop, but it was great) we stopped by Ashley's. Baby Sadie immediately began kissing Lane. She sat in front of him, held his shoulders and opened her mouth for a big kiss. It was hilarious. She is a tiny tot, but was showing Lane who was boss. I think she dropped this toy on his head twice.

Sadie turned one year old August 4th.

The gang! This is a classic picture we'll cherish.

We got back to Jamie's around 11:00 p.m. and Mason was there to greet us.

Sunday morning we tried to sleep in, but ultimately had to get up, pack and prepare to drive back home.

Tammy came to visit and meet Lane that morning. He loves necklaces (anything pretty, blingy, shiny) right now.

The cemetery was our final stop before getting back on 36 to drive East. When we hit Cross Plains we started the count down of towns.
